RE: Approval of the Yonge-Eglinton Official Plan Amendment No. 405 (EBR Registry Number: 013-3483 Ministry Reference Number: 20-OP-187916 The Federation of North Toronto Residents’ Associations (FoNTRA) is a non-profit volunteer organization comprised over 30 member organizations. We want to see Toronto grow as part of a sustainable urban region, characterized by environmental balance, fiscal viability, infrastructure investment and social renewal. OPA 405 is a comprehensive review and revision of the Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan that proposes effective policies to address the issues of unprecedented development in this provincially designated Growth Centre. As well as built form and public realm components, the Plan also contains polices regarding provision adequate open space, services and infrastructure, providing a model for developing comprehensive plans for other urban areas undergoing rapid change. Many our member organizations participated in its development over a number of years. We strongly support the Yonge-Eglinton Official Plan Amendment No. 405 and urge that it be approved as soon as possible. It is urgently needed.
